I definitely felt uncomfortable, awkward, and embarrassed last year when I posted them and certainly again this year. The reason I decided to repeat the process this year was that I had actually accomplished the goals and am pretty sure that posting them allowed me to do that.

The other reason is, as you say, to "put them out there" so I can't pretend I didn't make a plan, or set goals.

You're right--it IS hard to say "Look what I did!" but it's one of the most rewarding things there is to say. Once you get past the fact that it kind of feels like asking for a compliment, it really opens up a lot of good dialog. And sometimes (usually, 'cause we generally only point it out if it was good), you get those compliments that stay with you and make you feel all glowy inside.

About this blog

  • When I took a sabbatical from Wall Street to pursue a different dream and help others live theirs, I learned that women in the U.S. may be placated, even pampered, but because we aren't dreaming, we are also desperate and depressed. Drawing on a variety of sources, ranging from academic studies to pop culture, dare to dream encourages us to dream. And then to act on our dreams.
