As I've recovered from surgery, we've had dinners brought in, desserts dropped off, clothes laundered, offers to tend our children, flowers and fruit delivered, and our sidewalk plowed.
Given that many of these kindnesses were rendered by women I don't know well yet, I suppose I should have been surprised.
But I wasn't.
No matter where I've lived, I can count on the women in the Relief Society. So much so, I'm quite certain that I take them for granted. I'm realizing, however, that if the nearly invisible threads of this safety net were ever to wear thin, there would be a gaping, quite possibly, irreparable hole in my heart.
Grateful.
Do you have a support network that is so everpresent that you can't imagine life without it?
Making me cry on an already emotional morning as I watch the devastation from far away in my hometown and had similar thoughts that the Relief Society would be there for my family when I cannot be.

Ditto. Your thoughts today brought up a sweet memory of my own. The ultimate "pay it forward" organization. Hope you are feeling better soon.

I would not be who I am today without the Relief Society. What an excellent tribute.

Love the RS! And the women who make it shine. So glad you were taken care of.

Yes the RS is a wonderful organization and has blessed my life and that of my family. I am now the YW's leader and wanting for these young women to catch the opportunity in RS. I wish we didn't separate the YW from the RS. While I appreciate that each group has special needs, I wonder what would happen if we didn't do that.
