Tacos make me happy.
So do quesadillas, tamales and enchiladas.
Whenever I'm in California, Utah, Arizona or Texas (or Mexico) -- I make a beeline for the nearest Mexican restaurant. If it's a taco stand, even better.

I ate a lot of Mexican food growing up, between my mother's home-cooked meals (she's from Safford, a nook-of-a-town in Southeastern Arizona), and our nearly weekly pilgrimages to Alicia's in San Jose.
When I write my recipe story, my mother's tacos will make the top five.
We all have food that nourishes us, that reminds us of where we came from. When we feel nourished, we are better able to act, and not be acted upon, to pursue our dreams.
I'm in Texas this weekend for SXSW -- there is Mexican food aplenty.
Grateful.
What foods nourish and comfort you?
Why?
this made my mouth water.
YUM.
I love the fresh, vibrant colorful foods that abound in the summer and fall (fruit salad!, roasted veggies, TOMATOES.AND.CUCUMBERS from the garden...). And then I love the hearty and creamy comfort foods all winter (chowders, chicken pot pie, rice pudding...)

What are you doing in Austin for the south by southwest film festival? Just for fun? Your happy foods are my husband's as well.

That photo looks DELICIOUS! I love comfort food. My favorite is Italian, but food in general gives me comfort. By the way, I love learning that your mom is from Safford. I know so many Safford-ites here in Arizona.

I'm grateful that I come from a home where good food was a priority. It has left me with a life-long appreciation for "tasty" which I am always happy to indulge! We are so lucky to live in a time and place where there is so much to enjoy.

Homemade cake on my birthday. Doesn't matter if it's ugly. Only matters that it's good. And that someone cared enough to make it.

mmm, Mexican food. Massachusetts is severely lacking in true Mexican food. That's the only thing we eat when we travel west.
Food is always part of the best memory!
